I fell off the "Raw Vegan Wagon" and have still not jumped back on. I really struggle, with understanding, how it is that I can believe in anything as much as I believe in the Raw Vegan lifestyle, and still REALLY struggle with staying raw. Maybe some of you can write me with your struggles and stories. Maybe your stories can help me get to a better place.

Since I haven't been blogging much...I have started a "Becoming Raw Vegan" facebook page. Also, if you are already using Facebook, please send me a friend request. You can find me on Facebook by using the "First Name": Becoming, and "Last Name": Rawvegan. I don't want to loose my community. We have been struggling with my husband (Jesse) still being out of work, and we have been really busy trying to prepare our house to put it on the market. I need all of your comments, friendships and this community. It is all of you that help me to stay on track to reaching my goal. It is so hard to not go for those SAD comfort foods when you are stressed and worried.

I noticed I lost a few followers too, and I am so bummed about that. It really brings me a feeling of new beginnings. I find it liberating. Here I am.....been bummed out about being off my raw path. On one hand I feel like it is no big deal as long as I still have to goal, and I keep coming back to it. On the other had I bum myself out because I know that if I just stuck to it I would be over all the bumps and hurdles by now. I really don't get many cravings now, but once in a while I do get them. Actually, most of the time when I get them, then give in to them.... afterwards I find that whatever the craving is (that I just eat) wasn't even satisfying. The thought and the expectation the proceed the indulgence, are better then the SAD food actually taste. I guess my body is changing, but my mind it lagging behind. To me, the New Year brings with it a kind of "Do Over". A fresh start!

Lately I have been eating mostly vegan, about 30% raw and 70% cooked. I have really been sucking in the raw department. I think I have been giving into the cold weather. For me, raw is so much easier in the summer.

My husband has been trying to go vegan as well. He is not quiet ready for 100% raw. However, I believe the more vegan he goes, and the more of my raw food he eats the more his body will change on it's own and crave more raw. This is also what I am hoping for myself, however, I will also be focusing on more raw food. I just really want to make it 100%. I need it for my health. I need healing.

I really believe in the raw lifestyle. That is the other thing that nags at me. You would think that if you really believe in something, that it would be easier to do. It seems that it would be a no brainer!

Thank you Lord for a New Year!!! New beginnings, and a fresh start!

I will be getting a new Juicer and a Excalibur Dehydrator this year. I think, one this month and the other next month. I am not sure what juicer is best. A couple are really similar. I would really love any of your suggestions. Please write me with your comments and opinions. Once I get my new juicer, I am also thinking about trying a Juice Feast. If you have ever done one. I would love to hear your story's and experiences. I know this will really help jump start me and get body in the right direction. I would also love to hear your favorite green juice recipes. I would love to get more green juice in me to help with candida. I notice psoriasis issues when I have to much sugar. I tend to drink green smoothies over juice. I just can't find a green juice I like.

BEFORE GETTING A FLU VACCINE....

Vaccine manufacturers have paid out nearly $2B in damages to parents in America whose children were harmed by one of the childhood jabs such as the MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) or DPT (diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus). In all, around 2,000 families have received compensation payments that have averaged $850,000 each. There are a further 700 claims that are going through the pipeline. None of the claims is for autism as medical researchers say they have failed to find a link between the disease and the MMR vaccine, despite the initial findings made by Dr Andrew Wakefield. Instead they are for a wide spectrum of physical and mental conditions that are likely to have been caused by one of the vaccinations. Around 7,000 parents have filed a claim of an adverse reaction with America's Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP). To win an award, the claimant must prove a causal link to a vaccine. As the medical establishment has refused to recognise any link to autism, the VICP has so far rejected 300 claims for this outright. Results of the survey include:

- 76% of respondents are unaware that most flu shots contain mercury.

- After learning that mercury is an ingredient, 74% are less likely to get a flu shot and 86% say they are less likely to get their child a flu shot.

- 77% believe mercury should not be an ingredient in flu shots given to pregnant women and children.

- 73% believe the government should warn pregnant women not to get a flu shot if it contains mercury.

- More than 70% agree that Congress, doctors and medical groups (e.g., the American Academy of Pediatrics) should take responsibility for ensuring vaccines do not contain mercury.

- 80% of respondents and 84% of parents are willing to pay the $2.50 additional cost for a mercury-free flu shot.

• Approximately 115 million doses of flu vaccine will be available during the 2006-2007 flu season from 4 different vaccine manufacturers

• More than 90% of this year's flu vaccine supply will contain 25 micrograms of mercury, which means there is not enough mercury-free flu vaccine available for children under the age of 3 and pregnant women (8 million being made versus a 15-20 million estimated need)

• A Sanofi-Pasteur spokesman, the only vaccine manufacturer making Thimerosal-free flu vaccines, confirmed that enough vaccine to supply all children could be made, and in this article he noted "he had no idea why health officials were not ordering more mercury-free vaccine."

• The CDC's cost for a mercury containing vial of flu vaccine is $9.71. A comparable mercury-free package (each with 10 doses) costs $12.02

• Thimerosal has never been tested for safety and no proof exists that it is safe. On the contrary, there are thousands of documents in the literature that discuss its extreme toxicity, starting with Thimerosal's own Material Safety Data Sheet that, amongst other things, states:

"Exposure Guidelines: Thimerosal - no known occupational limits established... Exposure to mercury in utero and in children can cause mild to severe mental retardation and mild to severe motor coordination impairment... Target Organ Effects: Mercury - Nervous system effects (insomnia, tremor, anorexia, weakness, headache), liver effects (jaundice, digestive effects (hypermotility, diarrhea)."

• In drinking water, mercury cannot exceed 2 parts per billion. With more than 200 parts per billion of mercury, liquid is considered hazardous waste. A mercury-containing flu shot vial has 50,000 parts per billion of mercury. How can something with 250x the mercury level of hazardous waste be deemed safe?

• The Centers for Disease Control released a study in Pediatrics that cited a correlation between Thimerosal-containing vaccines and both "tics" and "language delay" in children

• California is the only state this year with a ban of Thimerosal-containing flu shots for pregnant women and children under 3

• Six additional states have passed laws banning mercury from vaccines: New York, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Delaware, and Washington with many more considering legislation, but the legislation has not been phased in for the 2006-2007 flu season

• Seven years ago, in 1999, a joint statement by the Public Health Service encouraged manufacturers to remove Thimerosal from all vaccines for children as soon as possible:

"Because any potential risk is of concern, the Public Health Service, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and vaccine manufacturers agree that thimerosal-containing vaccines should be removed as soon as possible. Similar conclusions were reached this year in a meeting attended by European regulatory agencies, the European vaccine manufacturers, and the US FDA which examined the use of thimerosal-containing vaccines produced or sold in European countries." - Joint Statement of The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Public Health Service (FDA & CDC), July 7, 1999, 4:15pm

• Because of the addition of the flu shot in to the recommended schedule for childhood vaccinations in 2005, the level of mercury our children are receiving is actually on the rise again, as this recent article from UPI "Mercury Creeps Back In", points out. You can also look at this chart - children by the age of 5 will receive 53% of the mercury received by children at the peak of mercury exposure in the mid-1990s.

• Thimerosal is made of mercury. Mercury is 1000x more toxic than lead. If lead were in vaccines, the world would be in an uproar because lead's toxicity is well known, and thimerosal is ONE THOUSAND TIMES WORSE. Some of the many studies documenting Thimerosal's extreme toxicity, at levels well below what our children receive through vaccines, include:

Comparison of Blood and Brain Mercury Levels in Infant Monkeys Exposed to Methylmercury or Vaccines Containing Thimerosal

Uncoupling of ATP-mediated Calcium Signaling and Dysregulated IL-6 Secretion in Dendritic Cells by Nanomolar Thimerosal

Thimerosal induces neuronal cell apoptosis by causing cytochrome c and apoptosis-inducing factor release from mitochondria

Thimerosal Neurotoxicity is Associated With Glutathione Depletion: Protection with Glutathione Precursors

Activation of Methionine Synthase by Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 and Dopamine: a Target for Neurodevelopmental Toxins and Thimerosal

Thimerosal Induces DNA Breaks, Caspase-3 Activation, Membrane Damage, and Cell Death in Cultured Human Neurons and Fibroblasts

• A recent study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association touting the safety of flu vaccine. Nine of the studies authors had stated financial ties to vaccine manufacturers, and an additional four authors worked for the CDC. The study also stated:

"It is also important to note that there is scant data on the efficacy and effectiveness of influenza vaccine in young children."

• On October 27, 2006, the British Medical Journal published an article also questioning the efficacy of the flu vaccine. The article noted:

"Evidence from systematic reviews shows that inactivated vaccines [flu vaccines] have little or no effect on the effects measured. Little comparative evidence exists on the safety of these vaccines. Reasons for the current gap between policy and evidence are unclear, but given the huge resources involved, a re-evaluation should be urgently undertaken...

...The optimistic and confident tone of some predictions of viral circulation and of the impact of inactivated vaccines, which are at odds with the evidence, is striking."

• A recent British Medical Journal article reported that CDC materially exaggerates the actual number of deaths from flu each year and uses fear to increase vaccination rates:

US data on influenza deaths are a mess. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) acknowledges a difference between flu death and flu associated death yet uses the terms interchangeably. Additionally, there are significant statistical incompatibilities between official estimates and national vital statistics data. Compounding these problems is a marketing of fear - a CDC communications strategy in which medical experts "predict dire outcomes" during flu seasons.

At the 2004 "National Influenza Vaccine Summit," co-sponsored by CDC and the American Medical Association, Glen Nowak, associate director for communications at the NIP, spoke on using the media to boost demand for the vaccine. One step of a "Seven-Step `Recipe' for Generating Interest in, and Demand for, Flu (or any other) Vaccination" occurs when "medical experts and public health authorities publicly...state concern and alarm (and predict dire outcomes) - and urge influenza vaccination"

• Many are surprised to learn that the Thimerosal
bottle label has a skull and crossbones on it.
If a bottle of Thimerosal were spilled inside a
school or office, the entire building would have
to be evacuated and a hazardous waste clean-up
initiated.

PLEASE GO TO:
http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/vaccine_support_org.htm#1

Flu Vaccine Facts
Most Americans Surprised, Concerned that 90 Percent of Flu Shots Contain the Toxin Mercury. In 1999, government agencies called for the removal of Thimerosal, the mercury-based preservative in most vaccines. Then, in 2001, the American Academy of Pediatrics stated that, “mercury in all of its forms is toxic to the fetus and children, and efforts should be made to reduce exposure to the extent possible to pregnant women and children as well as the general population.” Despite these actions, 90 percent of this season’s flu vaccines still contain Thimerosal, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are recommending the vaccine for pregnant women and children six months and older. These recommendations come on the heels of recent studies that reveal new findings about the neurological effects of mercury and question the effectiveness of flu shots. Mercury, the second most toxic element after plutonium, is estimated to be 500 to 1,000 times more toxic than lead. more

Dr. Hugh Fundenburg, one of the most quoted biologist of our time, says that if an individual has 5 consecutive flu shots his/her chance of developing Alzheimer's Disease is 10 times greater than if they had 1, two or no shots. What it will do to babies given year after year is anyone’s guess and that is exactly what it is, a guess, an experiment for no one knows, for there have been no tests. Clearly no longitudinal study has been made with babies on the effect of giving annual flu shots starting from six months of age. With an already heavy childhood immunization schedule already in place, and with children already carrying increasingly heavy burdens of toxins, including mercury administered through other vaccines, it’s a crap shoot gamble on what will happen to the children under the CDC’s rule with the addition of the flu vaccine that contains thimerosal (mercury). Most pediatric flu shots contain 12.5 mcg. of mercury. According to EPA guidelines for ingested (vs. injected) methylmercury (vs. ethylmercury) not likely to cause harm in adults, an infant or young child would need to weigh 275 pounds to receive this injection for it to be considered safe.

FLU VACCINE: LEADING PHARMACEUTIAL COMPANY INSIDER SPILLS THE TOXIC BEANS - Expose by a Leading Pharmaceutical Company Whistle-Blower - Story from freewebs.com/merckflu also on healthfreedomusa.org

I'm a former (deleted) executive with knowledge that will get me "accidentally" killed if anybody ever discovers who I really am. So, I am lying when I tell you my name is Steve. But everything else I tell you is true!

The active ingredient in all flu vaccines manufactured by (deleted) is mercury. No other ingredient in any (deleted) flu vaccine has any effect on influenza in any way. Only mercury has any effect on the flu. What mercury does is kill nerve cells. The brain is basically nerve cells, fat and water. So is the spinal cord. So are all the ganglia in the human body. All mercury does is kill nerve cells.

It turns out, that dead nerve cells laden with mercury and nerve cells dying from mercury poisoning actually do protect the surrounding cells from viral infections. Flu is a viral infection. We discovered this property of mercury at (deleted) in about 1965 and started lacing all of our flu vaccines with mercury. (deleted) has not only the most profitable flu vaccines, they have the most effective. Why? Because they add mercury to their vaccines. Without mercury, flu vaccines are less effective than one cup of herbal tea. With mercury, the vaccine is very effective at killing nerve cells and more effective than one cup of herbal tea in preventing the flu. In fact almost as many vaccinated people get the flu as the normal population. But, with flu vaccines, there is a price to pay:

LUNG PROBLEMS

Before we started adding mercury to our flu vaccines, we had very few reports of children becoming asthmatic. I'm guessing the incidence rate was less than 30 cases per 1,000,000 vaccines. Thirty per million is less than placebo effect and it would be very difficult to ever prove the vaccine caused the asthma. Going to court when you were the 1 in 33,000 people vaccinated that developed asthma, is a losing cause. You'll never prove it to any judge or jury. You won't even get your case to a jury trial.

Immediately after we started adding mercury to the vaccines, the number of reports claiming children were developing asthma post vaccine increased several hundred-fold. The current odds are 13 out of every 100 children vaccinated with anything containing mercury will report asthmatic symptoms within thirty days. Once reported, these symptoms rarely remit. One out of eight children being vaccinated for flu will develop asthma, asthma-like symptoms and cystic fibrosis that remains with them for life. That's the current odds. This would make a very good court case except for one thing. (deleted) is immune to lawsuits for their flu vaccines thanks to the FDA. You can't sue (deleted) for any side effect of their flu vaccine - no matter how gross their negligence. Here's a sample of what happens because they add mercury to their flu vaccines and that's grossly negligent and should be criminal. But it isn't.

BRAIN DAMAGE

Mercury kills nerve cells. When the nerve cells in the brain are die, the result is attention deficit, autism, behavioral disorders, bipolar, brain tumors and cancer, decreased intelligence, hyperactivity and memory problems. Flu doesn't cause any of these things. Before mercury was added to flu vaccines all of these conditions were very rare. Autism occurred in less than one birth out of a million. Attention deficit was unknown as was Asperger Syndrome. Behavioral, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar and hyperactivity disorders were extremely rare -- less than one in a million, and these disorders didn't even have a name. Today one out of three children receiving mercury-laced flu vaccines will develop one or more of these problems within twelve months of being inoculated. The incidence for children who are not inoculated is very rare in America and around the world.

(deleted) has known for twenty-five years or more that mercury is absolutely and irrevocably the cause of all these disorders, syndromes and conditions. Mercury is the cause because it kills the brain cells and other nerve cells that keep the nervous system running smoothly. Kill some critical cells and you create a plethora of problems medicine can't cure. You also create a culture dependent upon you for the rest of their natural lives. (deleted) knows this and does nothing about it but rake in the profits. (Deleted) stands for mercury and mercury kills your brain and nervous system and that's what (deleted) does to protect you from the flu.

MUSCLE ATROPHY

But that's only the beginning, when nerve cells die, muscles become under-nourished and atrophy and give rise to muscular dystrophy, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and myriad syndromes plaguing people who receive flu vaccines. But the best part of this from (deleted)'s viewpoint is it takes years for these syndromes to manifest and proving the vaccine did it is nearly, if not absolutely, impossible. That's the bad news for all of us, because today these things all happen a hundred or more times often than before the introduction of mercury in flu vaccines. They also happen hundreds of times more often to adults who were vaccinated as children than to adults who were never vaccinated. One of the benefits of living in a third-world country is your children do not need to be vaccinated against the flu.

WHAT DO (deleted) EMPLOYEES DO?

Of twenty-five thousand plus employees during my employment, I never heard of one (deleted) employee who allowed themselves, their families and especially their children to be vaccinated against the flu. They know too much and they're not taking any chances with their families. If they are ordered to vaccinate their children, they take them to one of the company doctors who inoculate their children with saline solution and sign on the dotted line the batch and lot number of the flu vaccine they used (probably by flushing it down the toilet).
Insiders protect their children.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Here are the possibilities as I see them: a) become a (deleted) employee, b) protect your children even if you have to move them out of the state or country, or c) gamble with your children's chances of a normal life and allow them to be vaccinated. In the meantime, join and support HealthFreedomUSA.org and protect your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Join in all of their campaigns to Save the Children and support them as best you can.

PLEASE HELP SAVE THE CHILDREN! (deleted) WON'T, YOU CAN - WHAT WILL (DELETED) EXECUTIVES DO?

They'll spend as much money as they need to spend to identify and locate me. They expect to eventually find and terminate me, and I expect to live. They'll continue to lie to the FDA and the public. The public doesn't know any better and the FDA doesn't want to know. Anything FDA employees know will place them in jeopardy and they know that. They don't want to know anything.

(Deleted) executives will lie in court and to the legislature. Courts rely on the preponderance of evidence and (deleted) has always been able to purchase the preponderance of evidence for bottom dollar. The legislature relies on re-election and (deleted) can spend enough money to make that happen even if they have to buy each voter, one voter at a time.

Why? Because they continue to make more money in one day than most people can make in a year. With all that money they can do whatever they want to do and buy themselves out of anything, anytime. I know. I did. Now I feel guilty because I am partly responsible for killing and maiming children with vaccines that are not only legal, they're required by law. That legally makes me a good guy.

That's America! The good guys get to legally kill and maim children with complete immunity and the bad guys go to jail for stealing bread to feed their children. That's America!
PS: Please make a copy of this web site and share it with your friends. When the good guys from (deleted) or the FDA find it, this site will disappear as have the two previous web sites I built with the same information. Thank you.

The Associated Press Oct 22, 2006 - Israeli Health Ministry halts flu vaccine after three people die. Israel's Health Ministry halted the administration of flu vaccines on Sunday after three people who were inoculated died, a spokeswoman said. A fourth died later, Israeli media reported.

Flu Shot Left Canadian Executive Paralyzed
Two weeks after his flu shot, Mr. Claman awoke with a pounding headache and a strange feeling in his feet. The doctor was reassuring, telling the 47-year-old businessman that the symptoms were probably related to stress. His condition deteriorated, so he made his way to a hospital emergency room. His body was gradually going numb. Doctors immediately recognized the tell-tale signs of Guillain Barre syndrome, a baffling, potentially fatal condition that resembles polio. By afternoon, Mr. Claman was completely paralyzed. He was placed in intensive care and put on a respirator. He spent the next eight months in hospital and now, a year after his flu shot, is just beginning to walk unassisted again. "It's been a harrowing experience," Mr. Claman said in an interview. more

According to Hugh Fudenberg, MD, the world's leading immunogeneticist and 13th most quoted biologist of our times (nearly 850 papers in peer review journals), if an individual has had five consecutive flu shots between 1970 and 1980 (the years studied), his/her chances of getting Alzheimer's Disease is ten times higher than if they had one, two or no shots. I asked Dr. Fudenberg why this was so and he said it was due to the mercury and aluminum that is in every flu shot (and most childhood shots). The gradual mercury and aluminum buildup in the brain causes cognitive dysfunction. Is that why Alzheimer's is expected to quadruple?

Dr. Mercola - "Do Not Get the Flu Vaccine for You or Your Loved Ones Till You've Learned "The Secret"

The Spanish Influenza Epidemic of 1918 was caused by vaccinations---E. (One need not forget the dozens of vaccinations vast American populations received shortly after World War 1). No facilities obtained blood samples during the epidemic to even remotely prove that the Spanish influenza was to blame for all those deaths. The soldiers at Fr. Dix acclaimed to have been infected with the swine influenza had been inoculated with a variety of vaccines. One of those vaccines was the Port Chalmers flu vaccine, supposedly carrying antigens claimed to kill ALL influenza viral strains. Over 500 soldiers fell ill with influenza after inoculation. A true testament to the failure of the vaccine. At the same time sixty-six were hospitalized at Ft. Knox. This can not possibly be a one isolated incidence when considering that all soldiers were subject to such experimentation as they are still today. It's the government through CDC and the media that make the flu season with all their hype accompanied by the repeated rant and reminder of CDC's guestimated 36,000 influenza induced death figure. Media is powerful. Unfortunately far too many use it to blind unsuspecting citizens who in turn have now subjected their own children to this medical hogwash. learn more

Flus Children Vaccine
Childhood Vaccinations and Juvenile-Onset (Type-1) Diabetes by Harris Coulter, Ph.D.
Flu shot left Canadian executive paralyzed
JUVENILE DIABETES AND VACCINATION: NEW EVIDENCE FOR A CONNECTION Vaccines have been proven to cause insulin dependent diabetes and many are seeking compensation from the US government for this vaccine induced injury.

Vaccine Lawyers This section lists lawyers, law firms, and other organizations dedicated to supporting individuals who a) were damaged by vaccines and are seeking compensation through the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, b) are being harassed by vaccine authorities, or c) are seeking assistance regarding their religious right to avoid immunizations.

ORANGE JUICE

I have really been on an orange juice kick lately. A few fresh food manufacturers approached me and asked me to create a fast, healthy meal, the equivalent to a sandwich or burger.

Where do you begin? First, I had to adapt my own way of eating to a raw diet, to be able to fully immerse myself into the situation. I had picked up a book on eating raw food, and after a week, I found my favorite dish to be a very green salad with lots of kale and cucumbers as its main ingredients. Eating all this organic, fresh, healthy food made me feel great. So, I decided to use this recipe as the foundation for my project design of a healthy sandwich.

In the same raw food book, I had read that the gorilla likes to eat similar food groups, and because of this diet it was very strong, able to bench press ten times its own body weight, which is 4,000 pounds. I was impressed. This was the starting point of the Gorilla Sandwich. But where do I go from there, with cucumbers and kale as the main ingredients?

A plain cucumber! Redesigning a cucumber? Wrapping it all in a kale leaf? That's impossible! Wouldn't you say so, too? Well, here again, as so many times before, my athletic background led the way.

The main objectives were to invent a raw sandwich that was remarkable enough in its design to be patented, and a strong trademark associated with it for marketing purposes. In this case, the recipe would take the place of the function, and the ingredients: black kale mustard greens, black olives, avocado, walnuts, dulse (seaweed), flax oil and of course, a cucumber, would be its limitations, since it had to be edible, too. The design had to be within those parameters.

Originally, the recipe was taken from a raw salad that I found in a raw cook book. Two factors, the easily perishable ingredients and the requirement for a shelf life minimum of four days, were two opposing forces that were making it virtually impossible to market the recipe as a loose salad or wrap it into the leaves of the kale or put it between two cucumber halves. It would spoil within one day. The situation posed a challenge in both design and function. A solution didn't seem to be at hand. Until a friend called me up to go surfing. I had just prepared my salad, but didn't have a container available to take it with me. I don't know how it occurred to me, but I took a long spoon and started to carve out the cucumber. And as I did, I realized I had solved my problem. The Gorilla Sandwich was born.

There was no need to cut the cucumber into the salad, because I could now stuff the salad into the cucumber, and my all raw sandwich was ready to go. I had a great surf session, and afterwards, my first Gorilla Sandwich tasted awesome. I had overcome the challenge by accident or inspiration. Sometimes the two are hard to keep apart. However, the solution turned out to be the best possible. I was able to get rid of the pulp, the part of the cucumber that was very high in water content, which was one of the main reasons the other ingredients would spoil so easily. The thin walls of the carved out cucumber "container" left me with just the right amount of water content to keep the balance of the original recipe that without the cucumber would be too dry. Now the salad was beautifully enclosed in its edible container, but still open on top; somehow it had to be sealed. But what should I use? Design a plastic cap? That wasn't feasible, since cucumbers come in so many different shapes and sizes. Another lightning bolt of inspiration hit me, and I decided to take the little piece of the cucumber that I just had cut off and stick it back into the opening, but in reverse, with the narrow side facing down. It fit beautifully. And to add an element of design to it, I carved out the little piece just deep enough, so I could garnish it with an olive. Of course, it had to be a green olive.

Now the color-sensitive artist in me was talking. The finished product was a beautifully sculpted vegetable. And the ledge that formed where the little container met the big one gave me the distinguished design that I was pursuing and needed for patenting purposes. And after opening my mouth and biting into it, it wasn't much of a stretch to come up with the name, "Gorilla Sandwich." I still can't bench press ten times my body weight, but I had created a container with natural properties that would keep the ingredients from perishing and maintain their freshness. The good shelf life now makes it possible to market the Gorilla Sandwich in stores. It is currently sold in Whole Foods Markets, and also freshly prepared under a licensing agreement by a few selected raw food restaurants.

The Gorilla Sandwich is an example of a commercially successful project and challenging design, all at once. The design is also currently under negotiations with one of the world's top three leading fast food chains for a not all raw version. This design is here to stay, and eventually people might refer to it as casually as they ask for a hamburger.

Bueller's Kitchen

There is an awesome post at http://buellerskitchen.com/?p=182#comments on Fat, Fruit and Candida. You have to think hard about what you purchase and if you really need it. And if you really need it are you choosing the best one for the earth and for your health. I like to take it a step further and think of where is it going to end up if I don't keep it forever. Think about it. How often do we really keep things forever. They have to go somewhere. Here is a really good link that tells you "Where stuff comes from and where it goes" http://www.storyofstuff.com/

MOVING FORWARD...

Yesterday ended my http://www.blessedherbs.com/ colon cleanse. I am SO happy to be eating over these past 2 days. A little to happy. I have had some raw (banana milk, green salad, an apple, an avocado) I have also had a lot of cooked food (veggies and tofu from our favorite Asian restaurant, a frozen french style tart (it had ham, cheese and it was pre-packaged :( so not vegan) and 3 pretty small pancakes with agave as the syrup. Oh, and I had brown rice with seaweed seasoning.

I will be trying to lean more towards raw food going forward until eventually that will be what I crave. My husband is not trying to go raw, but he is trying to loose weight and eat smaller portions. He told me to day that he wanted to "make a rule" no fast food. This will be helpful. I wont have to think about it or smell it :) I also plan to keep feeding him any raw food I eat without saying it is raw. I figured when I give him cooked food I don't explain it is cooked, right? I hope that just by adding more and more in both of our diets it will become what we crave. He does love green smoothies, so that is really good.

I will keep you posted.

THANKS CONNIE! I'VE BEEN STRUGGLING...

I went 100% raw for about 2 weeks. I started feeling really, really sick. Just the thought of raw food made me feel ill. I got really discouraged and went off raw. When I moved away from raw, I naturally moved away from this blog. I have Polycyctic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and Type 2 Diabetes. I really believe that if I can become 100% raw for more then a few months, that these conditions will start to go away completely. So, when I felt really sick after being raw for 2 weeks, I really went into a depression. I felt like all hope was gone. Raw was my answer and I couldn't do raw. I was so depressed. The feeling of discouragement, I'm sure, was not helped at all by going back to a SAD diet.

So, now lots of time has passed and my head is clear. I was just doing to much to fast. If my body is sick enough to have PCOS and Diabetes, then going 100% raw cold turkey was going to flush to much out to fast and my hormones and blood sugar levels where going to flip out for a while. I need to take it slow. That is a saying of mine, so it is time I listen to myself. Take it slow....

I'm now working my way back to raw. This time I will take it slow. On Monday I started the Colon Cleanse from blessedherbs.com . I need to "make way" for all the toxins that will be leaving me as I become raw. I am on day 4 today. I did 3 days where I reduce my food intake and take the herbs. Now, today started the no food, with herbs, apple juice and water for 5 days. I am not hungry at all. You take the mixture 5 times a day and it really gives you a since of being full.

This time around I have to remind myself to be patient, and to be proud of myself for simply being on my way.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://becomingrawvegan.blogspot.com/2008/07/where-have-i-been-ive-been-struggling.html' title='WHERE HAVE I BEEN? I really don't keep track of the amounts when I'm making food. I make food more by the consistency and how it looks. So it really just depends on how big of a batch you want to make.

The Cookie

In my VitaMix:
Ground up Pecans. To many things to post about. So I am just going to post as I think of them.

In December I finally got my VitaMix. The very first thing I made in it was a yummy green juice. I put 1 banana/2 apples/spinach.

I have tried a bunch of recieps and lately I am finding that I really enjoy a more simple diet. I love avacados, oranges, banana milk, green salads with lettus/green onion/beets/avacado with no dressing, tangarine juice (with a little agave it taste just like a orange julius...yum!!!!). This has pretty much been my diet. I actually crave large bowls of sliced up oranges.

I think my taste buds are really waking up. I have always loved avacados with sea salt. Sometime I would also have them with a squeez of lemon. However, lately I have found myself thinking "I don't want to ruin this avacado with anything", because in the moment I just love the way the plain avacado taste. In the past I have had a hard time eating salads because I have never been into vinigar or sour dressings, and I also never cared for sweet dressings. I have always loved creamy ones. I just couldn't find a raw dressing I liked. I know my tastebuds have really come alive because now I am loving the salad above with no dressing.

I do love dressing though so if any of you have a creamy dressing I might like, please post it for me. Last week we went to my new favorite raw resturant 'La Vie' http://www.lavie.us Finally they had a dressing that I loved! I believe it was called "Yummy Ginger" It was so good!! I am not really a ginger person, but to me it didn't taste like ginger. I can't wait to go back. Next time I will take pictures for you. I forgot until after I ate all my food....lol If you use my link and go to the menu you will see what we got. We got the fajitas, tacos and sundried tomato and olive pizza. YUUUUUMMMMMMM! My husband and I always share everything, but we did over order. I was just so excited and wanted to taste everything. The fajitas where my favorite and I have been craving them every since. Jes really liked the tacos. It was all GREAT! We also took home desert and had it the next morning for breakfast. I got a slice of blueberry cheese cake and Jes got...well I forgot what he got...but I know it had toffee in the name of it and it was also yummy. The owner also gave us 2 hay stacks on the house, because my husband told her that the food was kick ass!, and she appreciated that....lol

I tried this Thai Salad. Yummmm! and so simple!!! I got this one from http://www.sarah811.blogspot.com/ , only I added pecans to the bottom of my pan. You got to try it. To be honest I wasn't to happy after my last post. I really didn't enjoy any of the recipes I tried. I am trying more and tweaking as I go for my own taste. I did make some taquitos I liked. I will take pictures the next time I make them and post. The important thing here is that I try to make new raw recipes as often as possible, while still eating simple raw foods the way they grow.

My raw for today:
I had Raw Chocolate Pudding. I tweaked the recipe so it wasn't as rich as last time. I liked it much better. I think I will tweak it once again the next time I make it. It is still a little to sweet for my taste.

I also experimented with some Raw Corn "chips". Basically they are just fresh corn with a pinch of salt, dehydrated into a chip. They work for Salsa, but they are a bit plain. I have made them before with flax and red bell pepper as well as cumin and chile powder. I think I will do that recipe again, but leave out the Bell Pepper. I lost the 100 pounds when I went organic. With my health issues the "doctors" told me to loose weight and it would help a great deal. I had tried really hard to loose the weight, but my health problems are what caused me to gain in the first place....and nothing was working. All my life I was between 135 and 145. Really thin for my height. Then when I went organic, and didn't change anything else, I dropped 18 pounds right away. I was sold that organic was the way to go. It just naturally came off little by little. This is over 5-7 years. The first time I went raw it was only for 2 weeks, but I felt great and lost 11 pounds. I wish I would have stayed, but I just went cold turkey and I think it was to much to fast. This is why I will take my time this time around. I need to try and be mostly raw vegan and work on learning raw preparation, and receipts. It became really boring to just eat raw fruits and veg just they way they grow with out the recipe knowledge. Don't get me wrong, I love them the way they come. God made them perfect in their own wrappers. However, it is nice to have other choices. I need to take the time to find craving substitutes. I can't expect to follow the diet perfectly after eating dead food all my life.

What I had today:
1 banana
1 avocado
A couple of almonds
1/2 banana

Dinner was cooked:
Vegan white bean and sweet potato veggie soup. I plan to keep on keepn' on until I reach 100%. I truly believe in this life style choice. I have several health problems and I know they would go away if I could just commit. I know for me it will take time to be 100%, but I have a true conviction that this is the way for me. Here lies the conflict. I loose patience with myself, because I feel like a huge contraction. I know this is not a easy life style to transition to. However, it seems that if "I truly believe in being 100% raw" and if "I have a true conviction" about it that it should be easy for me. I WILL press forward! This blog will serve as a daily journal of my experiences. I also hope to inspire others, as well as myself, along the way. I subscribe to a news letter from http://www.thegardendiet.com/. Here is a recent news letter I received that pushed me to start my transition......and this blog.

Chained by their attitudes, they are a slave, they have forfeited their freedom. Only a person who risks is free.
- unknown

Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing the attempt.
- William Shakespeare

I have met so many people who have been studying the raw diet and reading everything they could get their hands on about the raw diet for years and years, but have never actually tried to do it! There comes a time when all our careful study and research must end and we must have faith in our own attraction to and desire for the thing we are researching so passionately! - Take the plunge!

In Joy!
Jinjee
http://www.thegardendiet.com/

I recommend you to go to the website and sign up for the news letters.
